How to Use the Manual

Your scoreboard system consists of two components - the scoreboard itself and the hand controller. Please click through each of the following sections to get a thorough understanding of how the system works.

There is a HELP button on most pages. Click there to go to the Aussport service ticket system if you have any problems with your scoreboard or hand controller.

The dark blue buttons all require a double press to activate. A single press will do nothing.

This ensures an accidental press cannot interrupt a game.

Create a New Game

The NEW button creates a new game by clearing any timing and setting all scores to 0. The quarter is set to Q1. The * moves to adjacent period one. Hit the Play/Pause key to start the new game.

Setting of Game Time, Rest Times, Extra Time, Shot Clock and Time Out

  • Press the SET button to activate the setting functions.
  • The period indicator changes from * to >
  • The first game period digit begins to flash
  • Use 0-9 to input the required number
  • The cursor continues to jump forward after each entry. If an entry does not need to be modified use the Play/pause key to advance to the next entry.
  • Press SET again to save the selections made. NB single press only is required

Resetting of Game Time

This button resets the game timer immediately back to the start of the current game period. The scores will remain unchanged.

Siren

The siren will automatically sound at the completion of game time periods, on shot clock completion and on timeout completion.

To sound the siren at any other time use this button. The siren will sound for approximately 3 seconds.

Toggle the Mode of the ShotClock

This button changes the ShotClock mode on every press. If it is ‘Y’ it will become ‘N’, if it is ‘N’ it will become ‘Y’.

Meaning of the modes:

‘Y’ - the ShotClock will pause/restart with the Game time. a ShotClock will start in sync with every new game period.

‘N’ - the ShotClock is controlled independently of the Game time. Use the Shot play/pause button to control.

Note that even in ‘Y’ mode the ShotClock can be paused and restarted by using the Shot play/pause button.

Play and Pause the Game Timer

If the Game Timer is not running then this button will start it running (and any shotclock or exclusion that is also running).

If the Game Timer is running then this button will pause it. If the ShotClock mode is set to ‘Y’ then the ShotClock will also pause (if it is running). Exclusion timers will also pause.

Reversing Scores

Use this button if an error has been made in the Scoring. The ‘+’ symbol on the display will change to ‘-’. From now on the scores will decrement by 1.

Don’t forget to press the button again once the corrections have been made to ensure the scores increment from now on.

Scoreboard Brightness

Use this button to change the brightness of the LEDs on the scoreboard. This toggles the brightness through 4 levels. Once the brightness has reached the lowest setting, it will rotate to the highest setting on the next press of the button

Light (Home) Team Scoring

Use this button to change the score of the LIGHT team on the scoreboard. Usually LIGHT is the Home team.

If there is a ‘+’ symbol on the screen then pressing this button increments the LIGHT score by 1.

If there is a ‘-’ then the LIGHT score decrements by 1.

Use the +/- button to change direction

Period Select

Use this button to skip over a period. This is handy for games with only 2 periods.

NB Using this button during a running game will not stop the game timer. To ensure consistent results only use this button prior to starting the game timer

Dark (Away) Team Scoring

Use this button to change the score of the DARK team on the scoreboard. Usually DARK is the Away team.

If there is a ‘+’ symbol on the screen then pressing this button increments the DARK score by 1.

If there is a ‘-’ then the DARK score decrements by 1.

Use the +/- button to change direction

Light (Home) Exclude Timer

Use this button to start an exclusion timer for the LIGHT team. Note there is no indication of exclusion time on the scoreboard, only on the HH.

If this button is pressed while an exclusion timer is running then a second exclusion timer commences.

An exclusion timer can only be paused via the game timer. The HH beeps at the end of exclusion time.

Use this button to indicate a timeout for the LIGHT team. Note one of the indicators will go out on the scoreboard however the timer will not start. One of the indicators on the screen of the HH will also change state. Use the TO button (7) to start a timeout.

There are two timeouts available to each team.

Note this button does not affect the game timer.

Cancel Light (Home) Timeout Indicator

Use this button to cancel a timeout for the LIGHT team. Note one of the indicators will light on the scoreboard however the timer will not be cancelled. One of the indicators on the screen of the HH will also change state. Use the TO button (7) to cancel a timeout.

ShotClock Play/Pause

Use this button to start or pause a running shotclock.

Note that when in ‘Y’ mode a running shotclock is also paused and restarted by the game timer Play/Pause button.

If a shotclock time is greater than the game time remaining the shotclock is shortened to match the game time remaining.

Timeout Play/Cancel

Use this button to start or cancel a timeout period.

Note that it is not possible to pause a timeout

While a timeout is running the game timer on the scoreboard will flash at it’s current value.

At the end of a timeout the siren will sound and the game timer will no longer flash but will be in a paused state. Use the game timer Play/Pause button to recommence.

ShotClock Play 20 seconds

Use this button to start a shotclock for 20 seconds.

Note that this will overwrite any running shotclock value.

If a shotclock time is greater than the game time remaining the shotclock is shortened to match the game time remaining.

ShotClock Play 30 seconds

Use this button to start a shotclock for 30 seconds.

Note that this will overwrite any running shotclock value.

If a shotclock time is greater than the game time remaining the shotclock is shortened to match the game time remaining.
